A bee escape board makes it easy to harvest honey without excess smoking or the use of chemicals. Just place it between the hive body that you want to harvest and the ones below it (side with screened triangle faces down). The bees will leave the upper hive body at night to cluster with the other bees below, and then not be able to find their way back in.
